Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Of course Im having a hard time justifying the $1700 price difference and extra $399 in shipping when the aquatop is the same size and just a mile down the road!!
Correction $1200 price difference plus shipping after I add all the IM stuff to cart. I love the stand and the aio engineering so much though....

Which of these do you guys think would work better for filter cups? A with the slits on the sides or B with holes mostly on and near the bottom? I'm leaning more towards B because I think on A the water would run through too fast to filter well but I wanted to check with you guys before I order.
I prefer B. I think it gives more media flexibility but either will work.

My ATO just went crazy and dumped about 10 gallons of water into my tank causing it to start over flowing and caused the salinity to drop from about 1.25 to about 1.21. How do I fix it? Drain a bunch of water from the sump and mix some saltwater to add?

It's safer to drop salinity then to add so you'll have to go slow. Use your ato to top off saltwater instead of fresh until you're back to your salinity

I'm afraid to use the ato since it messed up.

There you go Rock!! If im correct the 45 covers 48x22 or 24? I don't remember the measurements of your glass cage, but are the bars for uv/accent or are you trying to max coverage area?
Well..technically the ReefBreeders 35 will “cover” a 48x24 tank…. However, I put the 35 up that I sold to @tharbin to see the coverage. It only had 3 light pucks. The 35 is 35 inches long, however the light pucks on the end are about three inches from the edge of the light. So… the end pucks were about 9 inches from each end of my new 48” tank… sure, it “lit” the ends but you would only be able to grow low light corals on the ends. I wanted full coverage so I got the appropriate sized light. Sure, there is light spill on the ends but I can grow whatever I want on the ends too.
I hope that makes sense.

Oh, the bars are to provide a more consistent blanket of light. I’m not interested in adding PAR, just even coverage

Good point, go about it manually topping off with saltwater for now until you reach salinity

Yup! Drain some out and add SW

Are my fish and corals going to be ok? I'm kind of freaking out a bit... it was seriously less than 10 minutes between when I refilled the ATO and the tank started to over flow.

Probably ok but may look a little annoyed until things get back to normal

Mix 5 gallons of new saltwater, then bring the water to its level by draining water from the tank, then turn off the ato and take 5 gallons of water from the tank and add the 5 you prepared.

Do I mix the new salt water a little higher than normal so it gradually increases the tank water back to where it was?

You could I don't see any issues doing so

I have mine on a kasa timer plug. I set it to run for 60 seconds once a day so this won't happen. I highly recommend that for every ato
