Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I really want to get torches and hammers again but last time I had them I got BJD and lost them all and I'm terrified of getting it again.

You can get a cheap tester hammer to test the waters... well by cheap I mean like $40ish

Guys I think I may have figured out why my ATO dumped water into my sump yesterday. A snail had gotten stuck in the drain pipe and caused one of the side compartments to fill with water which of course made the sump water level lower causing the ATO to kick on and keep running. I was organizing my little table beside the tank where I keep food and stuff and realized the compartment was almost full of water which it normally has very little water in it. I checked and sure enough found the snail shell. So any ideas how I can keep this from happening again? Could I make put plastic crafting mesh over the drain holes?
I printed a similar "box" weir for my 8 gallon.

question for the pro's, working on my DIY AIO baffle design, can't really get decent pic's of the designs out there.
this is what i have so far. grids are 1 inch

So im reading 2" wide for the media chambers. What will you be running there? My tank is designed similar to this, but the first chamber is a bit wider and I just hang media bags in there. Im wondering if 2" is wide enough not to restrict flow once you add your media.

only chamber I planned on having media was the one by the return, more like a bubble trap with this in it since i have plenty

was thinking of a type of drop in media cart and do away with the first chamber

Good idea I may do that next time I place an order.

could copy this design for a media cart and hang it in place of the first chamber

It's part of the hobby, my friend. Yesterday I lost one of my torch because my flow changed in the tank with the corals I gave my dad. Start with some cheap ones, $30 or $40, and that way if it goes wrong, the pain isn't so much.
