What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
I'm going to ask a stupid question but how do you vote for 3... Do i press change vote because I don't see any option to do so.
Yes.

Define "more color"? I feel like the ones in my 8 gallon have higher PAR and grow slower - as in they just sit there and look pretty. They're more pink with bright yellows. While my Strats in the 70 grow super fast and spread like wildfire. They're purple with bright golds. Both are sitting on the sand bed but the 8 gallon likely gets close to 200 PAR on the sand bed while the 70 was getting around 100. The 70 gallon Strats seem to stretch towards the light and look all puffy while the 8 gallon Strats are tight and flat to the frag plug, smaller polyps.

I've never really measured PAR since I set up the 70 it may be different. I've never PARed the 8 gallon.
I am going to move them to a little lower PAR

Tim,

What PAR are your strats in? Mine are growing like weeds in probably 250-260, but I've noticed the more shaded ones have more color.
I'll try to remember to grab you a picture when I get home to show the difference.

Hope everyone has been doing well. I have been doing ok, crazy busy with work and have not been getting notifications weirdly so if I missed anything I apologize.

I often have the issue of no notifications. Its very annoying but I have no idea why it happens.

Same and I think I've narrowed it down to you have to actually click on every single notification even if there's multiple in the same thread. It's the only thing that's worked for me, very annoying but I don't know if it's something that can be fixed easily.

Tim,

I should have mentioned, the more shaded ones are more purple/gold like you mentioned.
In that case, maybe I'll throw an Acro in my 8 gallon! That would explain why my pink Sun Coral doesn't open. 😂

Do you guys that use filter cups of anything other than filter floss in it?

Haven't done it yet with my new tank but I've thrown a bag of carbon in there and the mesh on top on occasion or I've also thrown bio media in there. You can get creative with it.

I put PolyFil in mine but usually I'll toss a mesh bag of carbon and/or phosphate/metals reducer in on top of the PolyFil
