Geez I wonder why it's reacting so much and you're sure the water output valve is all the way open. Maybe someone else has an idea. It should only do that really if there's something in your water that's causing it.

Happened to me a few days ago. I had to clean out the part the air tube goes into.

I haven't used it much because it always over flows and I gave up trying to fix it temporarily. I did let it run all night the other day but it still was over flowing.

skimmer could be overflowing if the export tube from the skimmer into the sump is restricted..open the gate valve or maybe a snail or something is stuck in it...

Well darn I already ordered the sicce one. I looked at that one on Amazon but was worried it might not work.

I know it works for algae, don't know as far as parasites

I have never been able to get the skimmer adjusted right. I try and try and try and get annoyed and just turn it off. Lol

if the export gate vale is open all the way, can you take if off like a reef octupus skimmer and check to see that nothing is stuck in the pipe before the valve..?

Its clear so I can see all the way through it without taking it off.

can you take it off and look inside to see if the restrictor inside moves either up and down to close the pipe off or the opening gets smaller and larger as you turn the valve..

hmm. never saw a valve on a silencer before. are you sure it is not just a cap..
air silencers still make noise since it is drawing in air to the skimmer...
If you want to make it 100% quite you should run that air intake hose to a CO2 scrubber to help raise PH and will make it dead silent..
CO2 scrubber easy to make out of a reactor and color changing media..
If it does not have a hose connected to the silencer add one to one port, close off all the others and run to a CO2 scrubber.
