Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Good morning peeps! Well, another day in paradise here, I was awakened by a call from my son, return pump failed overnight. Sump overflowed a little bit, 😠 He called off work so he could work on it .🤞An additional problem, he added a whole container all for reef, 900 ml instead of 50ml and I’m sure Alk is through the roof, he said everything looks fine. Anything I should have him do besides a a water change?

Oh no Kevin! I hate that this happened! I have no advice to offer but a water change does sound like a good idea.

Thank you Rev, I have faith my son will have it sorted out before I get back from vacation. He’s a mechanical engineer and has a 55g mixed reef but still I wish I was there to get it back to normal!

Well l’m sure everything is way out of wack, all I can think are large water changes spread out over days?

Man, always seems to happen when away from the systems.

Water changes and have him check calcium as spike in alk could cause the calcium to drop.

Good morning, all.

In case any of you missed it, @Paul B won the 2025 Mariner of The Year award last night. Once again, huge conrats, Paul!

Hoping everyone has the kind of day that makes you feel like the MOTY!

And eat a taco.
Morning Chris !

So kind folks I have a question. Sadly there was a failure of a power strip over the weekend that powered the return pump and all other life support equipment to a tank I do maintenance on.

Happened over the weekend. Most everything died. They are on a budget. We all are of course.

What could have kept this from happening? No one is there for about 48 hours. I was thinking maybe an alert over my phone and text.

But not sure what equipment would be best for alerts. I don't think a backup battery would have saved the tank since the power bar did have power to it. It just tripped.

The large Naso was heartbreaking to pull from the tank.

Shelley
Shelley was the power strip tripped or just the return pump?
