What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
@steveschuerger I live in Wyoming. No where to buy much for my tank. So when I saw the tiny plate I thought, self, you gotta have that glorious little flower. And used money I earned from cleaning the clinics tank. And when it gets large I hope to trade or sale its babies. And put one in the clinics tank. 😹
I live in the Boston metro area, and ironically I’m in a similar situation, esp since I’m dependent on uber these days. I used to be able to at least get decent fish at a local PetCo but that’s gone downhill fast this past year. Almost all my corals are from live sale or generally online, usually on sale. I do have several in the tank from the Farmers Frag Fest in March in Connecticut (Big Hammer, the Big Favia, and the Lobo at right corner)

.

You paid for what it could grow into and babies in my opinion . I’ve thrown money at corals before but I stopped . The fact that the prices are going up is party because of me throwing money at stuff . And as long as someone will pay the prices will be there . The other thing is the twenty or so names for the same coral 🪸 oh please don’t get me started with that . No you can have the right to purchase anything you want at any price you want . But if you want a $600.00 to pay for a 1 inch Garth bonsai let me know Lol !! 😆
I agree with the names. It really ticks me off. And yes, I justified it due to the fact no one else here has it. And I know I can make some great trades.

I have done the same with plants. I trade, sale seeds and giveaway lots. I get great joy teaching others and sharing. A new daylily takes one season to choose the parents. And harvest seeds. Several more to line out and see what you have. Then a couple more to be sure they are worth registering and naming. Then a few more to list and try to sale. What a PITA. I don't have that many seasons left. But I can and do give magic seeds to my neighbors kids and they grow them for me. 🤣

I think the price should come down on ones that are easy to grow and the market becomes flooded with them. Like red mushrooms! I can't give them away without warning of how they take over!

I am Amanda . I can’t think about you having migraines all the time . I hope maybe they’ll find a cure for it . 🤩
I have learned my triggers. Can't do anything about the weather though. Stress I can try to keep in check.

Well, I at least was just using an example.
Don’t know if the other actually happened….
I sure hope so. I was just teasing and would be surprised if you actually did that.

My Petco has gotten better lately. At least with fish.

It's a day drive to go to Colorado and hope I can find something. And no idea what's reasonable. Yours are great.

I went to a show this spring. Was so crowded I couldn't hardly see anything. But still had a good time.

Back in the 90s there was a pretty good shop in Nashua and another in Saugus. There was also a so-so in, I think it was in Peabody. Probably all long gone. My favorite shop was in Framingham and it is still there. It has changed hands and looks quite a bit different but might be worth a peek if you get out that way. I bought a lot of gear, coral and fish through them over the years.

Tropic Aisle

-- edit-- I just went and looked at their 'store' the store I remember is the first store, the blue fronted one.

Framingham is about the farthest I’d go anyways. Name of the place? I can probably find it otherwise.

Tropic Aisle. The link to their web site is in my previous post.

That's how I did my gardens. Then my OCD would kick in and I changed it up.

I feel youngish most days. Until I am working at pulling weeds and am having to straighten back up.
I feel old most days until I’m asleep! 😉

Yep. I’d see it going to the mall out there. It’s been there a long time actually.
