Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
Not much of a real friend if he charged you that much for those tiny corals in my opinion...
Actually it was only 750 due to gc discount. Sometimes you give people things when they are in need. And that is what this was mostly. It wasn't about the dollars. But I was a little tickled.

Totally get wanting to help out so it's good that you did it.

Definitely got raked over the coals on that "deal"... Looks like a $100-150 in corals in my opinion. You paid for a name. Same shroom that doesn't have a name attached would be $25-30
Morning Rock. I agree but then I'm old school, looks like $35.00 worth, tops. I don't know how someone can have the audacity to clip a sub-finger-sized chunk off of a coral and sell it for hundreds of dollars. It's insane.

I honestly wasn’t planning to post anything, but since there’s been some discussion about the situation, I feel like it’s only fair to share my side as well. There are always two sides to every story, and I’m not looking to argue or attack anyone. I just want to clear up a few things.

Back in September 2025, you purchased $1,000 worth of gift cards for $800. Over the next 9 to 10 months, there were several mushrooms you asked me to hold for you, which I was happy to do. That’s a pretty long time to hold livestock, but I tried to be flexible and work with you.

During that time, we had several conversations about what I had available and what had come in, but I don’t recall getting a request to actually ship anything out. In a few of those conversations you also mentioned other online vendors. In the most recent one, you even asked me to order you items from another online vendor.

Just for clarification, the gift cards were nonrefundable, they didn’t expire, and they weren’t limited to mushrooms, so there was never any pressure to use the balance within a certain timeframe or on specific items.

When you were ready to have things shipped, I sent the mushrooms you picked out, asked for, and decided to use the gift cards on: OG, Circus Bounce, Rainbow Frank, Yuma Double, and Candy Crush JB. I also threw in an Electus JB.

As far as the photo that was posted, I can only share the information I have. UPS shows the package was delivered at 10:38 a.m. EST, and the photo I received was sent at 6:20 p.m. EST. I don’t know exactly when the box was opened, so I don’t want to make assumptions. Unfortunately, the package had also been delayed by UPS and sat in Louisville for an extra day.

Again, I’m not posting this to go back and forth or create more drama. I’ve always tried to work with people and be as accommodating as I can. I just felt that since the situation was being discussed publicly, it was important to share the full context from my side as well.

Yeah wasn't gonna mention names. All is correct and true.

Morning Tom,

What's going on with your tank? I've been kind of absent for the past several weeks.

Let's see, I need to empty it and have someone look it over for me as the seam separation on the top at the front left has grown a little larger, I still have more Aiptasia than the entire Caribbean Sea, and my Yellow Wrasse went to the fish farm in the sky last night. Otherwise, not much.

BTW, Good Afternoon Rock!

One small update: I designed and printed a weir plate that covers the routed overflow slots so that now instead of the slots being 4.975mm wide they are 3mm wide which should help keep critters from commiting unintentional suicide.

I'm glad I held off on replying until I was able to read DBC post.
The mushrooms you posted look like they just came out of the bag, you have them in a glass pyrex dish and they are small due to being in a bag for 48+ hours. Which you failed to mention.
Anyway, I am still confused as to what you wrote "sometimes you give people things when they are in need". Pretty sure DBC wasn't in need. From what I gathered, he gave to you when you were in need. I mean having someone hold livestock for 9-10 months sounds like he went out of his way to help you, not the other way around. Not too many people would do that. I feel like you should be thanking him for sending the corals.
DBC has been a stand up vendor since he began online selling. I've read nothing but great things about him.
My hat is off to DBC for his patience, keeping his word and selling quality, healthy corals.
Rant over....

Silly Rock. He answered you yesterday.
Well, I should have logged back on... my apologies Tom.
Thank you Tim for showing the error in my ways! <tips hat>
