As someone who used to work in the er (float pool at a hospital) this is more normal than you think. It all depends on how full hospitals are, where emt transports are etc… Some people would simply be in their and be out within an hour or two on slower days. However, when it came to transporting patients to another hospital or facility it usually would take a while. I’ve seen some patients have to wait 1-2+ days because of no room, or due to having specific needs.
