Hey all:

I recently picked up a chaeto reactor to hook up to my AIO tank. It was listed as 1/2" barbed tubing. What I wanted to do was just T off of my BRS Carbon reactor, which uses 1/2" as well...But you've guessed it...that is 1/2" OD.

I'm trying to figure out what to do. I have pumps that do either 1/2" ID (MJ1200) and one that does 1/2" ID but I don't have room for two pumps. Can I use one or the other, but T into a reduction fitting so that I can handle both on one pump?

What would I need for this ? I'm new to pumping fixtures and such.

Thanks in advance!

You’ll need a 1/2”x1/2”x1/2” quick connect tee...

Then a 1/2” tube x 1/2” barbed stem adapter...

The stem adapter barbed part is for flexible 1/2” ID tubing (goes to your chaeto reactor), the tube part of that adapter is 1/2” OD that inserts into the Murlok 1/2” tee. The Murlok tee accepts 1/2” OD rigid RO type tubing that is compatible with your BRS media reactor.

Ideally it sounds like you want to go from 1/2" OD to 1/2" ID?
You'd probably have to make the fitting from a couple. US Plastic is probably a good start.

HERE you'll find a quick connect that should take your 1/2" OD and push connect
(like RO/DI line connectors).
Then you'll need to get a barb for the 1/2" ID side HERE .

Use some pipe dope/tephlon tape when connecting the 2 pieces together too.

If that's not exactly what you're looking for, I'm sure you can find what you need on that site too or even call them. They helped me "build" a fitting before too.

Wow this is a great site, I hadn't thought of making my own, looks like it would work really well.

Thank you!

With my solution, if you wanted to use the MJ1200 feed pump, you’ll need an additional 1/2” stem adapter in order to connect the MJ1200 as a feed pump.

Or you can go with this 1/2” sch 80 barbed tee...

Then a single 1/2” stem adapter to fit into the 1/2” push connect valve fitting that one’s with your BRS media reactor...

nice, so i took some of the ideas and went to home depot. They didn't have female threaded so I came up with this (not glued or clamped yet). Any potential issues you can see?
