Here is a very simple and cheap design that I found to work exceptionally well with CBB. Get a live Manila clam (75c) from the grocery store, drill three holes on to the shell, and shut the clam with a rubber band. Sine CBB is the only fish that can access the meat through the holes, no need to worry about more aggressive feeders.

Hole size to be drilled can be adjusted based on the size of the copperband. Shutting the clam with a rubber band is not necessary, but in my case, it got knocked into the sand and burrowed itself into the substrate with its tongue, so the rubber band is there to prevent this.

An advantage of using a live clam is that it stays alive with drilled holes and does not spoil the water. I can just drop the clam before leaving for work and not worry about it rotting in the tank. But, this method also works with frozen clams (if your CBB accepts them), but in that case rubber band may become a must. As, at least in my case, once the dead clam opens up, other fish very quickly consume it.

Once the clam is dead or consumed, remove the shell and keep it. After feeding clams for a week, I was able to get CBB to eat other frozen foods by filling the empty shells with frozen mysis, brine shrimp etc and shutting shell closed with the rubber band.

Clever! Though were I a CBB, I'd feel betrayed by your bait-and-switch trickery....

Yeah I actually had to use chopped clams in the clam shell before switching to mysis. Directly going to mysis didn't work. I guess I have to put the frog in the pot and slowly heat it up lol.
