Hey everyone!
I am setting up a 40 gallon breeder LPS dominate tank and looking to run the Seachem Tidal HOB filter.
My question is, should I just do one Tidal 75 or 110 filter or should I go with two Tidal 55s?
I am going to be hanging my AI hydras from the ceiling so the won't take up space on the back of the tank.

do you have them or will you buy them? No need to buy 2 mechanical filters, they do the same thing. But if you have the 2 sitting around, then its up to you, there's no harm. Personally I wouldn't just because its more stuff hanging off the tank, its clutter and can be unattractive.

Just one will be fine.
I used an AquaClear 110 for 5 years on a 65 as mechanical filtration.
Two is twice the maintenance.
Maybe two wavemakers though to push waters around.

I switched from 2x smaller to 1x larger (Tidal 110) HOB filters on 40 breeder with no sump so this is just my 2 cents:

- 2x smaller gives better and more even cross-flow
- 1x larger is obviously less visually obtrusive and half the maintenance

I originally regretted switching from 2x to 1x but now I'm OK with it.
*I do run a Nero 5 powerhead for flow

How's that for a wishy-washy response?

I haven't got them yet. Buying everything piece by piece until I have everything. And I was leaning the same way you are saying.

That's kind of the way I was leaning. Do a Tidal 110 with two Nero 3s, one on each side of the tank.

Not wishy-washy to me I get what you are saying.
