Just started up a 10 gallon tank that I plan to have majority corals and possibly 1-2 fish. I picked up the tank and rock for free so figured what the heck. So here is my current build.

HOB aqua clear filter (rated for 50 gallons)
Seachum matrix in filter for extra biofiltration
10 lbs live rock
Hyper reef 30 light
(Dont have yet) 500 gph wavemaker

Plan is to do 2-3 gallon water change every couple of days (is this too much??)

I am fairly new saltwater aquariums and barely have my hands wet with corals. What are some good suggestions for inhabitants for this setup? What should I add first?

Any suggestions on anything is more than welcome.

I'd hold off on water changes until your tank has cycled. Usually 10% every 2 weeks is sufficient, but this also depends on a lot of factors.
I agree with blaxsun on the water changing. As far as fish go a clownfish, goby, or yellow tail damsel will do fine. I tried keeping 2 fish in a 10 gallon and every time it came out as a disaster. As far as corals go I think you’ll have the most success with softies and lps. I used to have a 10 gallon tank and I can tell you now that keeping it real stable is hard. But it’s real rewarding.

If using live rock, your tank is cycled. I change enough water but not exposing coral to the air. Usually 3 to 4 gallons a week. Enjoy. The scape looks cool

Just added a couple of cuties. Eventually they will be transferred to a 125g FOWLR when they get bigger.

Started with a few corals. I have an orange ricordea, an acan, utter chaos zoa, green birdsnest and 3 rock flower anemones (red, white, and a green and yellow one). What are other corals that I can add without taking over the tank? I eventually want a torch is that feasible?

Nice scape!
Don't do a water change until your tank is cycled and 2-3gal per couple day is probably too much. I would do 3-5 gal every 2 weeks but depends on your stocking.

I would put some fast growing corals like GSP on a rock away from the main scape

My 10g AiO holds an actual 7g of water. I change 2g per week, but I had to let it go for a few months at startup to get nitrates and phosphates up where I wanted them to be. Now that they're there, they seem to hold pretty steady with the 2g weekly WC.

Honestly i did too. My Goni is doing amazing but my chalice and my trachy died for no known reason. Everything else in my tank is thriving
I lost both hammer and the torch, and not mushrooms. My Alveopora is actually a gorgeous goni.
