This is the beginning of my 10 gallon SPS dominant tank thread. I currently also have a 125 gallon thread. Today i have all of the parts, most of them being recycled, to do this tank. The filter and powerhead and light was from a QT I had set up and just got another 10 gallon tank to do this project. I know it is going to be a long road to success and i am ready for it. That is why I am documenting it here because I know there are others who also want to take on the challenge as well as some who have done it.

Today I cleaned the tank which previously had freshwater fish in it from my sister. That consisted of trying to get pieces of gravel stuck in it which was a pain. There are even still some in it that I have noticed in the picture lol. After cleaning the tank I added the sand, and cleaned up the filter and the powerhead. The filter is a Aquaclear30 which is running a sponge, bio-pellets, and carbon. I love this filter as I have used it before and it has kept the tank crystal clear. I had two five gallon buckets mixing and added them to the tank and it is currently still cloudy. I am going to begin cucling as well as adding rock tomorrow.

My plans for livestock so far is to have 1-2 clowns I have in my 125 that do not seem to be getting along so I will be seperating them. Also looking to add a couple other smaller fish I have not decided what type yet and was hoping someone had some suggestions! Also going to add a cleanup crew in the near future.

It looks so clean. Do you have any trouble with surface scum with that kind of filter?
