Just wanted to document everything I've been through, it's nice to come here on two or three years and see the progress!

Well, it started in October 2017 when I visited WWC in Orlando and just realized I needed a bigger tank...

The tank is an update from a 60 gallon. I went with 48 x 24 x 20 display, and 40 x 18 x 17 sump. A total volume of 120 gallons. The tank is being held by MDF stand that I was pretty worried at first with it, but its holding pretty nice.

November 2017 when the tank arrived:

This was in December, First water test (glad it went really well):

Couldn't find overflow box and just decided to go with PVC which I can move to control water level:

has been 2-3 months that I don't post anything here but a lot has changed!

1. Removed the canopy.

I love the Idea of the canopy because it helps with the light spill, but in my case, here is too hot and having the surface without contact with air was just causing problems! the temperature was getting to 85-86 so I decided to remove the canopy instead of adding fans.

2. Upgraded lighting.

Didn't find any mounting kit for my Ocean Revives and decided to replace with Hydras 52. It's ironic that when I received the AI classic rail mount I found out that the ocean revives fit perfectly in the rail, but the Hydras were here already.

3. Installed a chiller.

Even without the canopy, the temperature was getting high to 82-84 so I decided to buy a JBJ chiller which is maintaining my temperature on 79-80.

4. Replaced the wavemakers.

I had 2 IceCap 3k but got bored of them because never got them to work synchronized, its impossible and went with a pair of maxspect xf230. Started with two, but found out that it is a lot of flow for my tank and decided to take one out and that worked just fine. A month later got bored anyway of the "gyre flow" and purchased two mp40's and I'm loving the flow. To be honest the gyres move way more water than the vortech but right now I need more flow in the middle of the tank than a gyre flow. I'm keeping the gyres for if I need more flow in the future.

5. Final result and some pictures (sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, I'm using not the best camera) :

Don't know this Acropora name but grown from less than 1" frag.

A lot of time without updates. Sadly, this tank has been shut down in December 2018. There's a new 35G build on my content, please check it out :).
