I have a recently started up a 100 gallon tank. It currently has the following:

2 black and white clowns (2 inch)
3 kupang damsel (1 inch)
1 cleaner wrasse (2 inch)
1 white goby (3 inch)
1 shrimp

I would like to add another 6-10 fish to add some good movement to the tank. Everything is tiny and the tank feels mostly like dead space right now.

I’d love some ideas if you have them. I don’t have a big budget so please no $200 fish. I’d love those but I cannot afford them right now.

2 months old. Live rock and sand transferred over from a tank that was a year old.

I have a total of 12 inches of fish. Isn’t the rule 1 inch per gallon?

Everything in there right now is tiny.

Inches per gallon means nothing. I could put 10 10” tangs in my 120 and it would be a disaster. Your real limitations will be adult fish size, aggression compatibility and nutrient control/export. I wouldn’t put anything in that size aquarium that will be over 7” full grown and limit that to 1-2 fish.

Possible additions:
Other wrasses
Foxface
Tomini tang
Blenny

Those damsels might make it hard to add anything, damsels have a rep for being buttholes! Dwarf angels, cardinals, basslets, a butterfly might be good for that movement you want. Take care with butterflies and corals though if you have them

A full grown Engineer goby could work as they could probably hold their own against the dasmel fish.
Ooo yes! I have one. Shes amazing! A baby would probably be fine, they do grow fast

The only downside is they can rearrange sand and cause rock structures to collapse if not properly glued.
Yes they do! Mine isnt bad at all, only had one rock collapse with her

I have 17 fish in my standard 90 (about to upgrade in the next 3 months. Foxface needs more room).

One spot foxface
Scopus Tang
Falco Hawk
Bangaii Cardinal
Red-lined wrasse
Purple fire fish
Flame angel
Tomini tang
Leopard Wrasse
Mandarin
6 Springeri Damsels ( was supposed to be only 3 but 6 showed up. IDK)
Lyretail Anthias

These fish were all added in that order over the course of a year and a half.

After i upgrade ill be getting 2 female Lyretail anthias's.

You need to just pick peaceful fish and fish that are not know for destruction. Ill tell ya the list above looked WAY different than when i first started.

You already added damsels that are know to be aggressive so its a crap shoot from here on out.

Here is what I have in my 100g, just as a point of reference.

- 2 clowns
- 1 royal gramma
- 1 yellow tang
- 1 kole / bristletooth
- 1 foxface
- 1 lawnmower blenny (rip but will replace)
- 3 anthias
- 1 Melanurus wrasse
- 1 watchman goby / shrimp

I am planning on adding a few smaller fish (possible another wrasse and a firefish).

I think it’s decent stocking, but the Kole as Foxface but heads. 48” may be tight for the thre bigger fish.

Given the diversity of fish, I have to feed really heavy.

How much are you feeding that beast of a tank?
