Get a 40w at least
is there a reason why you say at least a 40 watt, I have a 35 on my 125 gallon and it does the job just fine, With the limited space I had below there wasnt much room for anything bigger

People say it can kill good bacteria but the bacteria you want lives on the surface on rocks and sand so it theoretically should not be going through it. I think it has for sure helped with the spread of disease like ich and algae spores.
