I've bought used tanks for the last 3 years and I'm fed up. I want a clean slate and not inherit previous owner problems. I was looking at a Deep Blue 120 not drilled for just over $600. What would you all recommend for me??? I plan on building the stand and drilling the tank myself. THANKS!!!

Aqueon and Marineland both manufacture standard 4 foot 120's. I know Aqueon at least offers the black silicon as an option as well. If you want a standard 120 (not rimless, no drilled) I'd talk to a LFS nearby and get their best price on multiple brands, might be a bit cheaper than Deep Blue.

I just got a quote from a company as I'm also looking for a new tank but want something different. But here's a screenshot price breakdown of what they would do for what I want.

I almost bought mine from glasscages, but my buddy told me he had this one.. he has purchased from them before.. there shipping kinda sucks because you gotta wait till they have deliveries in your area or you pay out the bung hole for shipping

I got one from SC aquariums I've been really happy with. Tank, stand and canopy for $1400 shipped. Starfire glass and Eurobraced. On the site it sells for a bit more but that includes a sump, skimmer and return. He'll just sell you a tank or tank and stand though. The 120g tank was only like $800 drilled though if I remember right.

Steve at sc aquarium can probably drill what you want. The sca and the aqueon 2 different looks. I was gonna get the deep blue till I saw cj aquarium then I was sold. Just giving you options I like to have all my pipes in the middle return and drains.

A little over a year ago I was looking for a 120g myself and considered the SCA. It looks like a sweet tank but i preferred a lower profile/footprint overflow and the eurobracing would not allow me to put on my seasweeps and seaswirl so i just bought a standard 120g [Visio] and got a ghost-style [ebay] overflow. The downside is that you'll be stuck with a centerbrace. I accidentally broke mine when I dropped my light on it but replaced it with a nice piece of low-iron glass. I dont mind the rim since i was going to cover the top anyway since i dont like the light shining in my face and spilling into the room. I had a rimless tank in the past and this time around i couldnt justify the price. I'm happy with my decision.

Anyway just my take on things.

You can see how I covered the rim and the low profile oveflow in these older pics of my tank. I guess my point is you can make a standard tank look pretty sharp.

Good luck. HTH

I just looked up the deep blue... my tank was $226 at my LFS and the overflow was less than $100. Hands down a better buy if you are willing to drill it yourself.

I plan on drilling it myself with a ghost overflow. I figured there would be thicker glass and better silicone work if I went with a more well known name in the industry.

I have been in the same boat for a few months. It was between crystal dynamics, cadlights and planet. After lots of research I went with planet due to cost and time. Crystal dynamics wanted 6-8 weeks, planet was 2 and I just didn't trust cadlights after all the negative reviews.

I'm leaning towards Planet Aquariums right now. They are a 5 hour drive away, so instead of paying for shipping, I could take my family for a weekend vacation to Dallas.
