How is the acro for the grow out contest? I remember you said it was delivered in a pretty rough shape which seems like it would hold you back in the contest.

Was it the efflo?

My piece is doing great now, shhh don't tell anyone, I'm trying to fly under the radar, and swoop in at the end, lol :)

The efflo? I think you mean this one, in the second picture, it's from battle corals too, its called "peek-o-train" its definitely not my favorite and may be removed before to long...I dont keep some corals after a while, maybe some have noticed but if they don't look good or grow the way I like, or color related, I remove them, usually give them away:) real-estate is to valuable :)

How much par are these guys getting? Color is so good!!
The par varies all day, from a low slow ramp in the morning hitting numbers over 600 mid day, then back to a slow ramp down but I believe it's the spectrum its getting, with t5 lighting mixed with leds. I wish I could put MH on there but I've had MH lights before and I can't go back to the heat issues, but that's the best. I think t5 mixed with led is second best in lighting options.:)

Lost 80% of my largest acro, mostly rtn the last couple days I got a couple frags of it that might pull through, and hopefully the base survives it looks pretty good so I'm hopeful. It could be due to any reason but I'm betting on it being high intensity lighting and zero nitrates and phosphates a few months back, when I had dinos for a couple weeks, I'm not sure how long it was but I knew it was an issue then.

I noticed after the dino cleared up and I got nutrients back on track, this piece acted weird for a few days with its polyp extension, but then its looked normal for a while.

The other day it did the same thing with the polyps, most would be out, accept some spots in the light, half of it would have no polyps out. The next morning there was rtn in the middle, in the highest lite spots.

What's funny is I wrote it off months ago so the loss is no surprise, or troubling. everything else looks pretty good, I need to do some organizing and glass scraping but for the most part the tank is doing good and most corals are happy.

Icp in today, it seems good, but im also wondering about the accuracy of icp not just from what I've read and heard others say, but I've had several inconsistencies.

I get two tanks tested every time and the same r.o water tested because its included. I try to keep both systems the same and they definitely use the same salt and water. I've had inconsistencies with both, with r.o water testing different there's really no explanation, but the tanks testing a little different are understandable.

My last test on this system was high cobalt and high copper, now they are undetectable so was the last test correct and this one isn't, did it just go away? I'm not sure but it makes me wonder about my correction doses, for now I'm still learning the way of this, but I'm starting to notice things, like how the price of icp testing went from 42$-47$ each since I started this moonshiners stuff.

I'm not sure what happened, I think Walt got to much light to soon, with low nutrients its was losing p.e a little at the end of the day and getting very light colored. I moved him back down to the bottom yesterday but its not optimal for him, hopefully he makes it, don't exactly have a spot for his tile, I will see what happens.

Walts got his polyps back!! but he got very pale in the full sun, it was one of the higher lit spots, I think I have a spot for him after a couple weeks in lower light recovery, I think he will pull through im glad I moved him when I did. :(

A few of the newer frags have finally started to get some color they were brown for a few weeks, the one I'm most interested in is this little light blue one with green polyps (mojo man), it has really started to color up.

The base of my rtn acro I'm calling it, is holding on and could possibly grow back part of it still looks upset but the encrusted parts look un phased, fingers crossed with that.

Is this tank ULNS? :)
It's a low nutrient system for sure, It wants to be @ zero/zero. I use brightwell neophos and neonitro at their recommended values to adjust levels periodically, this past month or so I have been trying more feeding with reef foods @ lights out in the morning (benepets and reef-roids) a couple days a week to offset the brightwell dosing.

Last check on monday it was around .01po4 and 5.8n03 which I would dose .01ppm p04 to bring it to .02 and leave nitrates alone. And over 5 nitrates. I will dose mb7 the next photo period. But right now i usually dose .01ppm p04 a day and 1ppm a week of NeoNitro, and reef food 2-3× a week @ half dose.

That how it is for now, but it's always changing ;)
