Can't wait to see your tank! AGE makes some nice tanks. I like the idea of the stainless brace.
Yeah me too, a little extra structural support. There will be no need for a center brace so it will be nice and open up top. They also powder coat them so I can still have a clean black finish. I will probably fabricate some kind of wood rim to sit on top to kind of finish it off a bit more and give it that furniture quality finish we are looking for. I'm so psyched to finally make a decision and get the ball rolling more.

So this just happened last Sunday. We had been trying for a little more than a year. All it took was a nice relaxing trip to Mexico, definitely where it happened! We are so excited, still vey, very early. Hope everything goes well over the next couple months. Build will be in full force, life is going to be very different in 9 months.

Congrats on the tank and baby !

The reef octopus 202 is for up to 265g, with the 40 breeder and sump water amount, will the skimmer be too large ?

I don't believe this to be the case. Some/most of the fish I want to keep require frequent feeding which will require extra nutrient export= over sized skimmer. I'm figuring a total volume of about 165 gallons with a bioload on the heavier side so IME a bigger skimmer is required. Do you have an alternative suggestion?

Sounds like things are coming along nicely. Post up some more pics, we like pics!
I know Chris! I wish I had some more tangible progress to show. The tank from AGE should officially be ordered this morning. This weekend I hope to start making some progress on either the stand or the demo in the house. Pics will come soon I promise!

Started working on the space for the build this weekend. Cleaned out the old pantry, and found a new home for everything. My wife is the best she is tolerating some weird storage to accommodate my desire for this tank. Anyway, ripped out all the shelves and sheet rock from inside the pantry. Discovered that there is a steel I-Beam the runs into the wall adjoining the garage. I was planning on putting a door in the wall there to access the back of the tank and electronic stuff. Well came up with a good solution, gonna put a door inside which I think will work out better in the long run. Did a bunch of drafting and materials planning. Work will have to wait until after Mother's Day going golfing with the in laws and my wife. Here are a couple before pictures... as in before demolition. Stay tuned for the after images[emoji12]

Have an electrician friend coming by next week to take a look at some work that will need to be done. As handy as I am, there are somethings that are best left to the pros. Hopefully he will be able to do the work quick and cheap. Really not a whole lot to get done.

The fun begins

Yes @Chriscrna the fun begins. On Tuesday I did a little more planning before work. I really wanted to rip some more down. But I need some 2x4 so I can frame a little in the wall. I don't want to tear out all the sheet rock.

Thanks, we are so excited. We may know the gender as early as next week! So nice to have you along for the ride. Hopefully I can make this the reef I have been envisioned.

Just realized I never documented to Spectrapure RO/DI system. Placed in a coat closet on the other side of my 1/2 bath wall. Feed and waste lines pass through the wall. John guest fitting to the sink cold water feed. Booster pump after sediment and carbon filters, and before the membrane. Product line goes through the floor and is suspended from the basement ceiling runs about 20' to my fresh water brute next to the sump.

Are you currently cycling any rock or do you have another tank you are transferring over? I thought about setting up a brute before I even get my tank to save time but haven't yet :)
