15 Alk too high?

Just started my tank and I tested the alk and saw that it is 15. Getting mushroom coral on wednesday and fish on tuesday so am kinda worried. Is this ok?

What did you test with ? You should shoot for alk to be between 7-9 but some people run way higher, 15 is crazy.. what is the mag and cal? What’s your salinity ?

I tested with HANNA H1772 Marine Alkalinity Tester

Salinity is 1.023
Cal is 500 ppm
I don’t have a kit for mag.

Your calcium and alkalinity is to high. What is your pH? Are u dosing your tank

PH is a little more then 8.
Just tested it again and now alk is 15.7.
Checked salinity again and it’s 1.024
Just put in fritz turbostart.

Take your water to LFS and have them test it before you get coral. Check the dates on the test reagent and kits

U know that’s no where near ready for any live stock.
Yes I wanted to get live rock and such from a guy and he said he will give me bio balls and filter media but gotta buy a coral? So that’s what i’m doing and hoping the turbostart helps to speed it up.

what salt are you using? Duracell???
(I suspect your using the test kit incorrectly, adding too much/little reagent)
