Now that I have been in temporary housing for about a month I decided it was time to make a temporary build thread. My previous system totaled ~1700 gallons . I wanted to keep a few of my corals and fish but did not have a good solution for a temporary tank so I built one. I needed a portable temporary tank that was easy to setup with just one person. This tank can fall into the Frankenstein category as it's not pretty looking. The tank has a 2x4 and plywood frame with a pond liner installed. No sump just egg crate dividers ro separate the fish from the heater and skimmer. Its basic but it will get the job done. Here are some pictures of this Frankenstein and its test build.

Equipment
300 gallon rated reef octopus skimmer
300 watt eheim heater
2 x radion G4 pros
1 kessel tuna sun for the refugium
2 x MP40

nice glad to hear you got to keep a few of the fish and coral. that must of been a hard choice...so what did you keep and why?

I have a fish list below of what was kept for the temporary tank. Many of these fish were special in some way which is why they were kept. While a couple of fish are MIA and one has died I did not expect the move to be perfect. As for corals I kept a wide variety of LPS, sofies, and some SPS that I was not able to sell or trade before the move. Unfortunately I have lost many of the SPS frags and a couple of other random corals. On the plus side of things though my Chicago sunburst split once since the move to the temp tank. Once I can get into my new home I should have a little more time to prep the move so its a little less stressful.

Fish:
  • Porcupine puffer
  • Gold Stripe Maroon Clown Pair
  • Spanish Hogfish
  • Purple Tang
  • Blonde Naso Tang
  • Tomini Tang
  • Banggai Cardinals
  • Annularis Angel
  • Spotted Mandarin pair
  • Yellow watchman gobie - MIA
  • Dragon face pipefish - MIA
  • Lubbock's wrasse - Died

Here are some pictures I took with my new camera and new Avast Marine Works Porthole @AVAST Marine. I have to keep myself occupied before I move to the new house so I am going to spend more time working on photography.

Its been a while since I have posted an update. Well things don't always go to plan. Unfortunately I have lost most of the fish that I wanted to keep. Not sure what happened as nothing new was added to the system and there were no major changes that took place. It seems that one fish started to look stressed out then once it died it seems that many quickly followed over the next week. The only thing that happened was a dog tank fell into the tank for ~3 seconds the night before the first fish died but I did a water change the next day and added new carbon. I think it was coincidence. I still have five fish left and they are doing well. At this point I am nearing the end of my temporary housing so I will be moving this tank to my new home in just under two weeks. Here are some coral pictures I took today.
