I am about to order between 175-215 gal. Planet Aquariums, not decided about size yet. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed about the lighting.
I like the spectrum of my lighting to be white and natural but am ok with the option to have some blue. I might like moving a little bit in that direction of the spectrum at some point but I don't like much and may never use it.
I plan on softies and a low light/easy anemone and possibly a bit of macroalgae in my display tank (i.e. dragons breath or other pretty macro, the rest in my refugium). I don't know the lighting needs of the macros. Haven't had time to research this yet. The ones I've had in the past in my refugium didn't need much. I have no desire to grow hard corals just the softies, macroaglage, an anemone (if there is one that fits the criteria) and live rock and fish.
I think I'm going with an acrylic mesh lid and would like lights that are hooded or can reasonably be hooded so that I don't have light hitting us in the eyes watching tv.
I don't know if I will get a master controller or not yet. But I would like to be able to take advantage of the controlling options of the leds these days (with phone app or controller, which ever is best or works out)
Would love some rec's for lights. Not looking for the most expensive, something hopefully reasonable. Also, how many do I need with whatever is recommended?
Thank you!
