in the past 7 days (or so) my 2 clown fish have started nipping at feather duster worms - both when "feathers" are out and retracted.
these worms and fish have been in the tank for months, without any notable interaction.

my only guess is that the clowns are doing "mating" things and this is part of there preparation...

i have only been in the hobby for about 14 months.

any thoughts, info, ideas please - thanks

90 gallon with sump, t-5 lighting, (tangs, gobby, clowns, soft, and LPS corals, etc.)

Is it just in one place or other places in the tank too.? Could be they are cleaning an area ready too lay eggs ...are they hosting an anamone ..or anything .?

both clowns are nipping on 2 separate worms (14-18 inches apart)
no anemone in the tank...

The clowns are telling the duster, that they are moving in on that territory and to go inside its tube and don't come and to play anymore:)
Sometimes clowns do this if one or the other is newly placed there.
Other times they just feel like doing it, cause they ran out of other things to do.
Clowns in captivity without a host will do many strange things.

Clowns can be among the most obnoxious territorial fish out there once established and anything out of place is removed or run off if they feel it is on their turf.

update - green bta with pinkish tips added to tank

thanks for the input

how cool..... i saw the first contact and made this video
