Where I live I can’t get the BRS soda ash and calcium chloride. But I’m assuming all soda ash and calcium chloride are the same? I can get these Chemicals from Swimming pool and hardware shops and was just wanting to double check it’s all the same.

Short answer is not really...
BRS has a excellent VID on various commercial grades of “base chemicals” that are nor nessasarily for Aquarium use. Purity and Effectiveness vary,,,,
The jest of it: “Pharmaceutical grade” is the safest bet....
I (go to BRS website or Youtube)

They are not all the same, no. Some are purer than others.

For alk, baking soda is a perfect way to go. You can bake it first if you also want a pH boost.
