Hey all,
I’ve never owned a tank before, but I had a good night at the casino and was able to fulfill a dream. Here’s what I have as of now. It’s not great, but I’m proud and it was fun to build. I plan on upgrading to 50gal within the year! Let me know what you think or how I can improve, thanks!

The return is 3/4” and, unfortunately, the drains are also 3/4”

I’m thinking about how to adjust the drains to help with noise and maybe increase water level a tad. Neither of these issues are super important to me right now however, as I’m finishing up school.

Welcome, glad you are here! It’s an exciting hobby, take your time and go slow. Patience is the name of the game. I would highly recommend starting with real live rock to save you headaches down the road. You can get them locally from tank tear downs, your lfs may have some for sale or online. Best of luck.
