I have api master fw I could test in a pinch. Someone I know used it because they couldn’t afford a ammonia test and it was only 1 time

also tamberav is right, xenia, gsp, and (to a lesser extent) monti caps, are invasive and annoying to have to kill later on
I’m a masochist about invasive coral, if I can have a overgrown tank which makes the fish happy, I am happy. I’m going to do a gsp wall so it can’t get into my lr, I saw a vid and they said that it’s easy to remove from a wall

Ok. If I test nitrate and I don’t smell ammonia does that woek? I only am gonna test nitrates. I shouldn’t have die off cos it’s only coralline but I could also try testing it at my lfs or petco. Does petco not use api? I have a specialist petco

Yes, the ammonia smell test is 100% reliable.

no you cannot do a smell test. api is usually ok for ammonia though, coralline algae dies from being left above water for too long. After my water changes i always get coralline dying on the glass

yah I don’t keep these invasive ones in my DT. I do like how they look and grow them in a 25g frag tank though just for my own enjoyment.

Much easier to control Xenia in a 25g space than a 80!

I agree, with my nsa scape I think it would be really cool to have the heads of the rock covered in monti cap or nps

I want my tank to look like a jungle with like big montis swaying lps and softies leathers shrooms zoas a wall of gsp and some caleurpa leaves and other cool large leafed and some small leafed for detail macros to accent the big corals. I am going to take what I know from freshwater aquascaping to make a beautiful saltwater scape
