Like most corals, I think your chances of success are higher with tank raised frags.

I wanted to double back on the post I made 4 years ago on the Hygger mini wave as I honestly didn’t expect it to last this long.

First I bought the 1600 which is easy to take apart and clean. I have never had a problem with this pump. I liked it so much I bought 3 2600 pumps. Each one jammed over time and one died. They are trickier to disassemble, but I found a video posted on R2R. I was able to clean the other 2 and since then they work great. Hygger has come a long way and you can’t beat the purchase price for these wave pumps.

How do you like your hawkfish?

I have a Long Nosed Hawkfish in my nano and a Flame Hawkfish in my 90.

They have huge personalities and I would always keep one in my tanks. They are hardy fish that IME have never suffered from disease.

So a couple of weeks ago I swapped out my Tunze Nano, which I discovered had a cracked magnet, for a new Hygger 2100 wave maker. The Tunze didn’t have a controller so the aesthetics of my corals look better with the wave action. I also have a smaller 1600 gph Hygger wave maker on the back wall hitting the flow from the 2100 at a 90 degree angle stirring up the flow. You get your money’s worth with these cheap pumps. The are small, low profile, come with a controller and don’t break the bank.

I added a female Mandarin hoping it will pair up with the established male.

I was worried that the male, which is bigger, might show aggression. They are starting their dance tonight. The smaller female is chasing the larger male around. They are displaying all their fins and it is beautiful to see.
