since I am unable to bring in a built stand into the room where I am placing this tank( basement) I am force to build a stand

My question are can I get away with a concrete block stand? It popped up and interesting idea for my use. But overly scared about this.

Second question, if I do the wood stand. There use to be a template calculator to help with the build, but looks like there isn’t anything like that anymore. So wanted to know what do I use lumber wise 2x6? 2x8? Maybe 4x4?? Wanna make it strong But tank is 72x24x27

Any insight and help is much appreciated
 
Consider that a factory stand can often be disassembled to move it, then reassembled!

I would look into extruded aluminum rail stands as well!

I actually looked at framing tech but for the cost was way too much. $1600 rails and skinning it would be more onto that price

2x8 for red and yellow upper, everything else can be 2x4
 
i appreciate the help, you think I wouldn’t need center support?the tank has a frame around it but I know I wanna place a large sump maybe a CA reactor as well underneath

It isn’t strictly necessary in this application with 2x8 spans…. But it’s not a bad idea!

Bean suggested 1-2 permanent rear center support uprights, then 1-2 screwed in, removable front center supports! — I’m employing this idea myself!

Rocket's basic plan and sizing are valid with a larger safety factor with regard to spans and basic racking forces. Buckling is not even on the radar. Adding a long side shear panel increases racking strength substantially. A long side and at least one short side, fixed shear panel further increases that safety margin.

We can do all of the calcs, but in most cases the span deflection (the easiest part to calculate) is the most important one. -- As long as the top is not suspended between legs (hanging from them instead of resting on them) and there is some attention paid to preventing racking (lateral collapse).

Stand is 40” tall

Took about 10 2x6 @8’ and 6 2x4@8’
And 2 sheets 3/4” ply

Plenty strong

That looks very well done, good job! Nice work with the pocket hole screws on the vertical pieces, eliminating the need for the "inside" vertical pieces. I think that will serve you better than a cinder block stand. Top it, skin it, and trim it, and you're done!
 
Yeah the pocket holes took some adjust to get use too but this truly gives me more space. Gonna finally place this tank on it tomorrow and do a simple skin
