One year. Tank stand built by me (my first) sump built by me as well, 60% of the rock made by me...automation is simple Bluetooth devices, plugs and pumps...nothing in the high cost name brand options YET but this method has served my tank well and without fail for an entire year...

Here's how my 525XL currently looks, (still need to pull together my build thread) - although I must confess, I did spend a good few hours yesterday syphoning tons of cyano off the rock work, still more to go but then this is what happens when you don't keep up the basics for a few weeks

Going on about 2 ish months, used old rock from my established 9+ month old 20 gallon reef and new rock as well
