Been thinking about saltwater for a few months so I joined the forums. Been reading articles and doing research. Currently my 20 long is home to an assortment of tetra and is planted. But I want want to switch to salt when the time comes. Here is what I have planned so far.

20g Long tank
Aquaclear 70 HOB w/refugium mod
Pico 2.0 skimmer
Finnex Titamium 100w heater
2 Koralia nano pumps
20 lbs live rock
Current USA Marine Pro IC
Caribsea live sand
TDS meter
Hanna Aqua Salinity checker
Inkbird controller
Tunze Nano ATO
Imaginarium Pacific Ocean water

CUC - 4 Trochus snails, 4 Nerite snails, 4 Spiny Star Astrea, 4 Nassarius, 1 Scarlet Skunk Cleaner shrimp

Livestock - 2 Black Ice Clownfish, Firefish (red or exquisite), Sixline Wrasse

I need advice on anything else I am missing.

Thanks in advance

Sand, use a small grain sand, something like carib-Sea Fiji pink.
Water, RO/DI only. Make sure you have a TDS meter.
I personally don’t think you need a skimmer on a tank that small, but that’s just personal opinion. Water changes weekly will make the skimmer useless.
The heater is fine, better to go a little bigger so it doesn’t work as hard, less chance for failure.
Live rock, there’s so many different kinds, but 20 lbs is fine. Get a little rubble while your at it if you plan on keeping corals.
Nano pumps are fine as is the HOB.
Turn the HOB into a refugium is you can though. You’ll love having the pods in your tank.
Have you thought of a stocking plan?
Do lots of research in that dept.
Are you planning to have corals? What light are you thinking?

Stocking will be a BTA, 2 clowns, a firefish goby, pink streaked wrasse, and a couple of hermit crabs.
I want to do some corals, not a lot since there will be a BTA

Not sure on lights. Looking at a Current USA Orbit Marine LED.

List updated. I've been looking at a RODI system, but since I live in an apartment, not sure how I would set one up. Anyone else living in an apartment with an RODI system without washer access? And I'm not sure if the local grocery store sells RO water.

Made a change for lighting. Going to go with a Current USA Marine Pro IC. Much nicer light for only a few dollars more.

Pretty easy, most come with an attachment that you can screw onto a sink head. Run the waste into the sink and the good line into a bucket.
