265 Gallon build

Starting this journey, some of ya'll wanted to follow along as I begin this build. Its going to be a slow process but I will update you along the way. The tank is a Marineland 265 gallon. Currently I've just begun building the stand.

Sealed the bottom floor joints and 1st coat of marine grade paint is on. One more coat then for the birch shell which will be stained

that stand isn't going anywhere! nice build. will you "skin" it with some 1/4" plywood? Doors? nice looking tank!

Next step is one more coat of paint then sanding. Then a high quality birch cabinet grade and molding that I'm going to stain

Just purchased a custom sump by crystalreefaquatics.com! 60" x 18" deep x 20" tall, 93.5 total gallons. Had to get a custom one to fit under my stand. Here is a pic of their stock triton 60 that was too deep.

Lol ;WootI know I said I was trying to do that but I figure its such an important part of the system, I couldn't help myself its so beautiful. I want underneath the stand to look beautiful too!

I would love to agree with you. Really, I would. However, a sump is simply a container to hold water and the more important components of the system. Although, there is the cool factor. So, yeah, I get it! (and I hope your wife doesn't know about this!)

She knows and finally agreed saying "you do you Corey" lol. Iam honestly horrible at saving money and being frugal. With this tank I want the best of the best and to do it right with all the major equipment. If I can save some money on lights that perform just as well as more expensive lighting than I'm ok with that but all of the major equipment will be top of the line

Got a lot done today with the stand. I'm really pleased with how it's coming along. Waiting until tomorrow for the touch up paint to dry then it's time to stain this bad boy. Im going with Ebony

Thank you sir! It was a fun and challenging project. Next for the canopy which will present new challenges

Stand is done (minus the cabinet doors I'm having made)! Now on to the canopy tomorrow
