Hi all! I am working on going to a sump setup on what is currently a 40G breeder and will be a 75G eventually. I ordered my skimmer last night and am essentially looking to find out what my best option for fitting a filter sock solution, protein skimmer, refugium and return pump. I’d like to make the refugium about 10 inches long so that gives me about 19.5 inches for the baffles, return pump, skimmer and sock(s). Any advice or redirection would be greatly appreciated! Skimmer is a Skimz Kone SK181. 8.27x8.27 bade according to BRS.

Something like this could work for you. It comes with everything you need to turn a 29g into a sump.

Could do sumpthing simple like this
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-filter-sock-mount.html
Once you have skimmer and sock in tank you can see how big first section that houses them needs to be. Leave 6 inches for return pump plus bubble trap on opposite side of tank. Whatever space is left in between is for fuge.
Also keep in mind recommended skimmer water level, and how tall you can go with sump while leaving enough room to get in there, remove stuff for maintenance and whatnot. Good idea to do a mock set up to get a better idea of limitations

I have seen these around and like them but was trying to see if anyone has successfully fit a skimmer and socks in the first chamber of the sump.
Yep i have this kit and have 2 socks and a skimmer in my 1st section....you can divide the sections to whatever size you want. Not the same skimmer but should give you an idea.
Sump is a 20 long. Has skimmer in the sock section a fuge and return section

Thanks for the replies. My goal is to get as large a refugium as possible which is why I will likely end up buying and cutting my own acrylic.

Good trouble: Have mushrooms ever become pests in your aquarium?
