Time for another update. Been about a month again lol. I ended up in a cyano battle. I was able to beat it with the help of some Chemiclean. I’ve occasionally been dosing Microbacter7 to help with any loss of beneficial bacteria I might have lost with the Chemiclean treatment. Things appear to be doing well.
Unfortunately, I lost my torch and almost lost a frogspawn. I dipped the frogdpawn in coral rx and that appeared to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the coral also bleached. I have since fixed my lighting and got my DKH up to 7.1. Not where I want it yet, but it’s better than the 6 it was at.
I added some pulsing xenia from my 30 gallon. Yes, it is on an island so I doesn’t take over.
I added an urchin.
The corals and RFA I received from @SBB Corals are all doing very well!
Here is a FTS to end the update. More corals and another RFA coming from SBB this week. Will do another update at end of the week. At least that’s what I am shooting for.
The new RFA, Hammer, Mushroom, and Acros are all doing well. I’ve got my parameters up to where things are better and happier. I’ve been dosing All For Reef every other day. Appears to be keeping things where I want.
My amazing wife surprised me with an awesome Mandarin sticker to put on the wall behind the tank. Next step for background art is to make a collage of all the aquatic artwork my little girl has done. Hoping to get moving on this tomorrow.
I also recently added a 3rd AI Prime light. Purchased some shades for them from Printed Reef to cut back on the light spillage into the living room.
I built a refugium for this tank. It is located in one of the four filter chambers that are in the back of the tank. It was the only chamber that was still empty and it worked out perfectly. I cut a section of the black sticker type material off the back of the tank where the chamber is. I bought and placed an Innovative Marine Chaeto Max light where I removed the material. The light came with Velcro for this type of application and it worked perfectly.
I had an InTank filter caddy that I wasn’t using and figured if I could modify it (cut it up and put it back together (NOT EASY!)), it would be exactly what I would need to keep the chaeto in place, but still allow plenty of flow around it. Pretty happy with the end result.
Forgot to mention, zero light from the refugium spills into the display.
