Lol ya he is not to happy we moved my 65 first than my son's 75 and we are moving the 29 this weekend so far only 2 corals that I am,concerned about but all happy fish :)

Cool idea. You can operate this system with one pump and just connect the tanks with bulkheads.
If you go DT to the skimmer then macros, the macro tank can act as a bubble trap and all the fauna from the fuge can pass to the DT without being removed by the skimmer.
If you're considering running the refugium photoperiod opposite the DT the you'll want to paint the sides of the fuge tank. Just my .02

I'd definitely get a pom pom crab and sexy shrimp for the macro tank (dunno if pistol shrimp would bother them otherwise I'd say put them in the main display).

Thanks for the great replys I love pom poms :) as for photoperiod yes they will run opposite and all touching glass will be painted black :)

I dont know about a skimmer on such a small system, if you were to run one it would have to be quite small to effectively pull anything out of such a small volume with a minimal bioload. A small neck and very fine bubbles are key. I know this isn't what you were asking, but thought i would throw a wrench in your plan. I do have some ideas when im sober though... tomorrow.

This is the skimmer please excuse that it has not been cleaned still moving lol but it was rated for up to 30 gallons made by aqueon

Try taking two pumps of equal power mine cost 10 to 15 dollars and run one tank from the other and back creating a loop should work nicely

That was my original plan a pump with tube to pull from one into the next each pump placed at opposite ends to help circulate water than one 425 in the 5 and one in the 2.5 or should I place both 425 in 5? The 425 will be connected to the smart wave controller

Don't underestimate how much flow you need in either tank I would start on the high end because it will leave you with dead spots for hair or other algae to grow more important though in a coral tank I have almost 1000 ph in my small custom set up with some algae still and 1 and a half times needed live rock so keep the feeding small and flow high

Also be very careful with a continuous siphon you will have to trial and error and maybe a wet desk lol

Not as pretty but pop on some clear U pipes that are used in overflows :)
