30 gallon stocking ideas

setting up a 30 gallon tank. upgrade from the 13.5 evo. currently have 2 clowns and a bangaii cardinal. wondering what cool fish could also thrive in a 30? i really like flame angels, anyone have experience with them in a 30?

I have one, they like bigger tanks. Look at a cherub or a flame back, a smaller dwarf angel .

No experience with flame angels but a goby or Blenny would be a great addition in a tank that size:)

i’m thinking about making it an anemone dominant tank and adding some more clowns.

what kind of filtration were you planning.

i was given a hang on back rated for 80 gallon tank i believe. i feel like that should be more than enough to filter a 30 gal

I would recommend a sump. I feel like a HOB would only be ok if you ran a skimmer, just my two cents.

You could also run a canister filter if sump isn't an option.

I think that method is really common in Europe and Australia. There's a lot of ways to skin this...

Any dwarf angel *could* be prone to nipping corals, sometimes the damage is more noticeable in smaller tanks (less corals to spread the nipping over)

If you decide to pass on the dwarf angel, could maybe do a basslet (royal gramma, black cap, yellow assessor, chalk bass, swales basslet, etc) or blenny, and/or a goby/ pistol shrimp pair?
