I'll get some more pictures soon. For last couple weeks the tank had an outbreak of some algae or cyano or something. It is completely covering my rocks and some on my SPS frags. It is a golden/green color, can get stringy but mostly fuzzy. There are some air bubbles trapped in it as well. I used all dead rock so have no idea where it came from. I use all RO/DI water. My NO3 is 5 ppm and my PO4 has been reading very low...7 ppb phosporus on the hanna meter which comes out to 0.02 ppm phospate. I haven't been running anything but the skimmer since everything seemed in check but I was losing the battle so put my GFO on this weekend just to see if it helps. Any other ideas I'm all ears. I have to clean the glass every day it's so bad.

Great build, coming along really nice.

You probably just have some dead stuff leaching phosphates from your rock at this point. Hopefully it's not Dino's, post some pics when you get a chance.

And here are a couple FTS from the couch using my phone. Basically showing the fish. I'll get more of the equipment after I clean up the wires that are hanging everywhere.

This looks like Pukani Rock? I have heard stories about Pukani leaching phos for a long time even after cooking. This being said, I'm still moving forward with using it in my large build. I love this rock!!!!

Looks awesome man. As far as the algae that looks like new tank diatoms.

I sure hope so. If it's Dino I may lose it! lol

Did you get him as a juvi, if so how long did it take for him to start and finish changing

Actually I got him from DD as a 3.5" adult. In three years he has only grown half an inch!

Yeah, all Pukani. I heard that too. I cycled the rock for a couple months before adding it. Even with the stories of leaching phosphates I couldn't resist. The stuff is awesome! Hopefully it is just diatoms. Funny thing is I took another PO4 test last night and it came out to 0.05 ppm so hopefully everything will get under control. I also read though that when you have a bad algae problem the algae will soak up the PO4 very quickly and even though your test kit says PO4 is low it is actually quite high, algae is consuming it faster than your test kit can measure. I'll feed less and keep my GFO running and see if I can get through it.

Nice !!!! The Aquascaping is sick !!! I hope mine turns out as good as yours!!

Thank you so much for the compliment! I was dreading doing the scape more than anything!

the tank is absolutely awesome! I'm thinking diatoms as well given the age of the setup. My next thought when first glancing was cyano. I'd keep doing what you're doing and hopefully see them disappear slowly and that can help confirm the ID.
