Current Tank:

Aqueon 180 gallon with dual overflows
DIY 55 gallon sump
SRO3000INT skimmer
60" ATI Sunpower with two Reef Brite LEDs attached
Fish include:
Sailfin tang
Achilles tang
Majestic Angel
Blueline Angel
Asfur Angel
Flame Angel
Sargassum Trigger
Golden Rhomboid wrasse
Flame wrasse pair
Earle's wrasse
Melanurus wrasse
couple chromis
couple blue yellowtail damsels

Time to upgrade!!

I'm in the advanced planning stages of my 330 gallon build. Mostly SPS with some euphyllia lps. Fish will be a lot of tangs, angels and wrasses. I'm looking at 84x30x30 peninsula style hybrid tank built by AGE with steel stand. Will be doing internal Herbie overflow. Sump will be custom built by either Elite or Synergy...thinking 48x20x20. After a lot of research on skimmers, will most likely be a Reef Dynamics INS400E. Lighting is a tricky one. I like the new ATI Powermodule but am actually leaning towards a Pacific Sun Pandora Hyperion S. Check it out.

Looking at ordering the tank in the next couple weeks. Let me know what you think guys!!

Very Intresting build. I am too in the advanced stages of my new tank which will be 84x36x24 Peninsula style with custom built waveboxes. As for the sump we have John at Advanced Acrylics one of the best in the business. As for lighting I have tried just about everything in the market from china LEDs to AI to Radions, at the moment I am running ATI powermodule hybrid. I will be aiming for Ecoexotic Cannon 100w x 3-5.

This past weekend I was at Reef-a-Palooza and talked to Tony Vargas about alot of topics which included lighting, seems we both have been through the same try outs and he's set on cannons. He mention this particular lighing gives you the best par reading as a Radion MH bulb just without the heat. Like you hear your thoughts on this. Maybe have Tony chime in. Good luck will be tagging along.

I have also heard that canons are the way to go for LED. I'll have to do more research.

Well after some more planning and measuring the tank dimensions will actually be 77x30x30. Just couldn't fit the 84".

I did order the skimmer for the new build during Black Friday sales. Went with the Reef Dynamics INS350E. Will put up some pics of the unboxing when I get it.

More good news is I received a nice Christmas bonus at work so should be ordering the tank in the next couple weeks.

Following this one! Love it when someone takes the plunge for a bigger tank and also a new adventure!

Thanks guys! I'm getting pretty excited for this one. I've been using Tunze 6105s on my current tank but being a peninsula tank I'm thinking about 2 Vortech MP60s on the same side of the tank against the wall. Don't really want powerheads anywhere else for a very clean look. More to come soon!

Tank is ordered! As said before it will be 77x30x30 300 gallon peninsula. 3/4" Starphire on 3 sides (two long sides and the end). 34" tall Steel stand with a 60x20x20 sump also made by AGE. Overflow will be a Ghost style overflow along one end.

Will update further as more things start happening.

Still don't know about lighting. Can anyone chime in with suggestions?

Gonna take a lot of wrapping paper! Lol. I'd go with metal halide with led for actinics. It's a deep tank. We have 2 400watt 20k radiums over our 220 gallon. Get great growth all over and no limit to what we can put in. I would go with 3 over that tank with some good ventilation or a chiller. Just my 2 cents...

I do like halides but really wanted to stick with LED. I ended up ordering the PacSun Pandora S fixture. It has 4x145W LED pads and 4x80W T5s. The control and features of this fixture are insane.

Also just got an email that my skimmer shipped!! Will post pics of the skimmer and my current and holding tanks soon.

Skimmer has arrived! It was packaged very well, wrapped in bubble wrap and in a big box filled with packing peanuts.

Sounds like a sweet light set up! I like the double pump on the skimmer as well. Let's see those lights when the come in.

So in an effort to keep this going somewhat I'll throw some other thoughts out there. I'm leaning towards 2 Tunze 6255 instead of the MP60s for a couple reasons. I love the Tunze 6105s I have now and how silent they are. I'm also thinking of using Sea Sweeps with them since I've read a few good reviews of that system.

Next I'm debating on whether or not to go bare bottom. I like the look of sand but with having a PVC bottom on the tank it makes going bare bottom a lot more bearable I would think (pun intended). Comments welcome!

For lights I ordered the Pacific Sun Pandora S. It has great control features and PacSun is one of the best LED light makers out there. It is a little more expensive than I was planning on spending but I think I'll be very happy with it.
