Hey everyone, thought I would share my journey on building my new system which I'm planning to keep running for a very long time. It was a lot of thinking and measuring, calculating etc and finally in the beginning of the year I pulled the trigger and started selling my old tank and I decided to go with 8x2x2 250g tank with steel stand, but I wasn't sure on the sump I was originally planning to go with the custom acrylic sump but it was too expensive so I decided to get a better lights and skimmer rather than a sump which is going to sit inside the stand and I'm not even going to look at it, so I ended up finding a bargain on ebay 50gal sump on an auction and ended up taking it home for £20 i thought it might need re selling or something but I was wrong holds water just gave it a good scrub with some citric acid and it looks brand new. This was a big upgrade for me went from around 75g red sea reefer 350 to the 8ft monster. I received a stand few weeks back got that inside in the meantime sold my old tanks purchased all the new equipment ordered the glass and began fitting the wood onto the cabinet planning out the electric etc. I did a lot of thinking about the lights I was planning to run 4 Evergrow fixtures or Reefbreeder as you guys in US call it but it was just not worth it so ended up getting 8 Radion xr15 and as things start growing in I'll get some supplemental T5 or orphek fixtures, went with the Deltec 2000i skimmer after reading a lot of positive comments about deltec skimmers. As I'm writing this got the response from the guys who are building the tank that it will be here in 2 weeks time, just placed an order for around 180lbs of Marco rock and plan is to go with the NSA aquascape, plan is to go full sps dominant only thing left to buy now is a calcium reactor which is going to be a Deltec pf601 or 601s but I need to get some cash together first but that can wait for a bit anyway. Some of the other equipment I went with, for the return I went with Maxspect turbine duo 12k as it will work out well because I will have 2 outlets, Pair of Maxspect gyre 350s which I kept from the old tank and 4 jebo/jecod sw30s for the back wall, Apex controller and Trident. That's it from me I can't think of anything else to say but I will keep posting here when something happens in next couple of weeks and also leave few pictures of where is the project now, if you like you can follow my IG I post few things on there from time to time follow @reefkeeperros

The sump cleaned up really nice. Looking forward to seeing your build come along. I did the NSA as well in my lagoon. It is very rewarding. It takes a while so it's a great project to work on while waiting for equipment. What kind of fish do you plan to keep?
Happy reefing! :)

Loving the build so far. How many XR15's are you going to put over the tank? I too have a 300-gallon tank, and I used 12 of the over the tank, and am contemplating putting two more.

Loving the tank, and you got the right vision! Really like your scape so far, and will have a better idea yourself whether it works once you get it in the tank! Nicely done, and keep us all updated!

Scape is in I'm really happy how it turned out it might look a bit low but it's just perfect for my liking, 2 pieces of rock broke off as I didn't notice they were not glued properly but will sort that out tomorrow, I was also planning to get the plumbing done today but the delivery service forgot to put my pvc pipes on the van so only some fittings showed up, hope they will be here tomorrow so I can get that done and start filling it up next week
