Hi Brain Trusts,

Just wanted to see if I could pick your collective brains on what Sump is good for $700 or less with a refugium compartment and a skimmer compartment large enough for my Red Sea Reefer 900 (this thing is huge just got it for my 150g tank and it’s a bit large for that).

I Got a decent lookin, used bow front, 300g oceanic tank on FB. The tank has 2 holes in each overflow (one overflow on each back corner) so I assume the sump will need to be able to accommodate 2 drains.

So a couple of question:
1.) What sump would you recommend matching above criteria?
2.) What return pump would you recommend?
3.) Should I just have one large return pump “T” off and go to each overflow, or do I need 2 pumps? One going to each return?

Thanks in advance as this larger tank will be my first go over 150 gallon tank.

I had 2 40g breeders under my 6ft tank …I had one tank about higher and it fed the 2nd one…..
I did it that way to accommodate all the equipment and to isolate the equipment from the large refugium and light spill/algae/cleaning issues
The price of pre-fab commercial sumps was a big factor as was the versatility and availability of retrofit baffles, et

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
