I've been having some cloudy water for a few weeks and couldn't get it to clear up. I also have been having some red/brown algae/bacteria leaving a film over everything. I added a cheap UV sterilizer into the refugium and its already looking better. This is after a little less than 1 day from adding the UV.

UV is a must for me. They work wonders! I run mine 24/7 on my bowfront!

I got some new corals. I wanted a frogspawn, but then ordered all the others to qualify for the free shipping. LOL. I don't have a frag rack yet so I'm acclimating in the sand.

Been going through the same thing in my biocube at home ( i dont have any sps there, so im running dinox, and im finally seeing improvement) . My bowfront has me slightly worried because its holding at 0s as well. However, my return on my hob is covered in different algae, so I believe its just acting like an algae scrubber. So im holding where i am right now. Might dose a little nitrates just to see what happens.

My favia is a little white and my hammer and frogspawn are a little bit retracted.

I think I'm beating back the dinos. I am still using the Dr Tims bacteria and I raised nitrate some. I'm between 5ppm and 12ppm. For physical removal, I siphon dinos off the sand into a bucket. I then run a power filter with just filter floss to take out as much dino as I can. Once clear of floating particles, I put the water back in the tank. After that, I use a coral feeder bulb to spray off every surface in the tank and use the power filter with floss to remove the blobs of dino from the water. I do this several times as the dino settles back down onto surfaces. This part makes the corals pretty mad but they open back up after 30 minutes or so.

Been doing physical removal every day or two. Also upped the temp by 1 degree. The duncan is starting to open up more now and a new head is growing in.

The dinos seem to be growing much slower now. I lowered my rockscape on the right side to help get better circulation and flow from the pump.

I think I finally beat the dinos. I took off the HOB refugium and added the power filter back filled with carbon and filter floss. Each morning the filter floss would be packed with dinos and could be thrown away. I also replaced my UV with a bigger unit.

I got a bunch of corals at last weekend's Tidal Gardens sale. This guy was looking pretty cool on the frag rack this morning.

I replaced the opposed AC Koralias with a single Nero 5. I have it set for 10-40% random during the day and 10% pulse at night. The corals seem to appreciate the higher flow and have already puffed up a bit.

I have 2 tanks now. I'm thinking about converting this into a valentini puffer tank.
