I hear you and there’s a lot of merit to what you’re saying but I’m a big believer in buy once cry once and with the top bracing on top of tank corded equipment is kind of a pain lol. And as far as as skimmer goes I finally got it in the stand with sump and the more I looked at it there’s just very little room to do anything in that chamber so I talked to Jeff and he said he would swap out the bigger skimmer for two smaller vs3-24 skimmers which will give me a lot more room in the sump.

100% feel yeah there is no rush other than pleasing us yahoos...lol
forgot the tank has euro bracing all around.

glad you and jeff worked out a win win!

So not too exciting but progress nonetheless. Spent all weekend trying to waterproof my 8 foot stand. Caulked the seams and used the white appliance epoxy by Rustoleum. Wow what a chore it turned out to be lol. I’m pretty happy with it so far. Need to wait a week and then go back and cover some holes from staples and cover up the slots from the pocket jigs. Anyways I’ve read about people doing this with their stands and always thought it was a great idea and wanted to try with one of mine so here it is.

Hey!
hows the tank? did you get it up and running?
Hey and yes it’s finally up and running. Took a lot longer than I expected but it’s finally done. Didn’t post any pics doesn’t seem to be much interest in FOWLR tanks on here but I’ll try to post some later on tonight. Thanks for checking in!

I think 2 big gyres on each end and 3 mp40s on the back wall might do it
For now I have two MP40s and one MP60 on opposite ends of the tank and I’m getting decent flow. I looked at other powehead options but it’s acrylic and the bracing on top isn’t ideal for powerheads with cords.

Some pics of the 360 up and running. I have my aquascape guy Jestersix coming next weekend to redo the rockwork. For now it’s just stacked and not much to look at.

I went with floss cups for this build just got burned out having to clean filter socks. I will say the floss cups allow much more detritus into the sump. I’m going to have to break out the shop vac at some point smh.

For those that have followed my build thread I originally had a custom dual Venturi Lifereef built for this tank. However i realized it was just simply too big and took up too much space so Jeff was kind enough to take the custom skimmer back and hooked me up with two 27” skimmers. It’s working out much better I have extra space to work with.

The sump was custom built where water enters from the left and right sides then flows to the center return pump chamber.

I pulled the doors off of the stand and removed the hinges. They will be attached with magnets. I have a friend working on that as we speak.

Following along. I just received my WB 330 and having those big fish without worrying about corals has been a goal since I can remember.

The skimmers are working well. I wouldn’t say the skimmate is any different than other skimmers I’ve used but I like the fact it just keeps skimming no matter how dirty the neck gets. I also like the ability to use any pump. The angels are doing well and were a big motivator to upgrade to the bigger tank. I’m actually in the process of having the rockwork done as we speak. I’ll post some pics when it’s completed.

Yes I upgraded primarily for that reason. My 180 gallon seemed huge until I put the queen and emperor angels in lol.

Great to see a FOWLR build thread! I’m still planning… but I have a 96” x 36” x 24” acrylic as well! Life reef skimmer coming tomorrow. Then I have to get everything else. Return pump, power heads, UV sterilizer, ton of rock and livestock.
Are you using UV?
Where’d you get fish?

I’ve never used UV on my systems. The majority of my fish were purchased online but I do have a few from LFS.
