Finally manned up and started my reef tank, its a 36 gallon bow front with a 10 gallon proflex sump i have 2 hydor 750's and a maxi jet 3000 for a return pump, my skimmer is a bubble magnus nac 3.5 haven't starting using it yet. i filled the display and sump with water on Sunday Nov 4 added some live rock in my sump and a bottle of bio-spira 3 days later i added 2 little clown fish for a some more ammonia
put in about 20lbs of dry rock from my lfs in the display and 25lbs black sand
salt mix i used red sea coral pro, salinity checked with a refractometer
BRS 5 stage ro/di unit for fresh water
This is my first saltwater tank ever, first fish tank in general actually so this is gunna be adventure and ill let all of you in on my progress
did a couple of water test
my ammonia was at 0
nitrate 2.0 ppm

Looks really good! I also love the black sand. I have the same tank and I am going to upgrade my 10 gallon next summer after we move. Hitching along for this ride.
