Hey guys!
New here, so I apologize for any errors in this post in advance. I'm not to keeping aquariums, though. I've had freshwater, brackish, reef tanks, macro tanks, etc... I've never had a FOWLR tank, though! I've always wanted coral or macros or something like that in the tank. That said, I got this 37 XH tank (basically a 20 long, but super tall) for basically free, and I'm ready to start setting it up as a FOWLR tank. I gotta move my tiger barbs and my crawdad out of it tomorrow, and I think I'll be adding some rock and saltwater tomorrow night. Here's some basic info about the tank:
Equipment:
37 gallon Extra-High tank - 30"x12"x22"
Stock lighting (cheap LEDs - might replace with something else in the future)
Top Fin HOB (just there to run some media for a QT and maybe some carbon or something)
Aqueon 950 Powerhead (I have two - should I run both?)
Top Fin 150W Heater (cheap, but they last for a while)
Planned livestock:
3 Mollies (already acclimated, going to be the first additions)
1 Blue Spotted Puffer (already in QT)
2 Ocellaris Clowns
Possibly 1 other small goby or something like that
So, yeah. This tank should be pretty simple, and that's the goal - simplicity. I feel like sometimes I get caught up in enjoying my macros and coral and I don't always appreciate my fish to their fullest. I might eventually add a few macros to this tank, but I doubt this'll ever become anything much more than FOWLR.
Puffer in QT:
Any advice, comments, or concerns are more than welcome!
