So you just print stuff out and mail them to people for free?
Not exactly
I’m currently on a learning curve when it comes to 3D design and printing. For now, I mostly create custom parts for friends and local reefers, and I usually charge a small amount just to cover materials and time.
Some of my designs are also published on MakerWorld. The platform rewards downloads, boosts, and ratings with points — and those points can be converted into filament and other supplies. So in a way, the community helps support future designs.
If someone finds one of my designs helpful, I truly appreciate a rating, boost, or feedback — it helps me a lot and motivates me to keep improving.
I know many of these types of prints already exist in one form or another, but I design everything from scratch and try to improve it or do it “my way.” With millions of models out there, creating something completely unique is difficult — so my focus is on refining, optimizing, and adding my own touch.
This is purely a hobby for me. I genuinely enjoy sitting down, designing, solving problems, and managing to make something new work. Seeing my MakerWorld profile grow, gaining followers, likes, and downloads — that’s just fun and motivating.
When someone downloads one of my designs and leaves a comment or rating, it honestly feels like a small win. It means someone out there is actually using something I created — and that’s incredibly rewarding.
My main goal isn’t to make big money, but to improve my CAD skills, create useful products for the reefing community, and refine designs through real-world feedback.
If something I design helps someone solve a problem in their tank setup, that’s a big win for me
