Hey guys. I scored a cornbread 3G mummy eye chalice for 30$ for 3 eyes. I have it in my tank now. I was wondering what is the best spot for this guy? I want him to grow fast but I don't want him to die ! Any knowledge on this topic? I have the AI hydras on my tank. Thanks!

Any pics would help to see that beauty.
Always start low with a new addition and work your way up.
A chalice isn't a SPS but it's a LPS so a bit of dirty water is good, in dirty I mean a bit more Po4 and No3 will help you to keep it colorful.

Thanks for the reply! All I have is my iPhone so I can try and get the best picture possible. I moved it into some shade and I'm planning to bring it out very slowly is this a good plan ? And 30$ for two eyes is a good deal right? What do they usually go for?

Beautiful! Now is it in the middle of the light or off set? And when you first got it did you put it in the shade and bring it out slow or has it been in that spot the whole time?

I found that the 3G/BGM chalice likes lower light. I have a colony in one of my tanks that is off to the side, but shaded on the bottom. In my other tank is another colony that is in the center, but shaded on the bottom.

The bottom close up picture looks more like a BGM and not a mummy eye. BGM has pink eyes and a yellow overlay on the raised bumps. The top picture look like Original mummy eye.

I have seem several places offering BGM as a mummy eye. But if you have both there is a difference. Just as the 3g looks like a glows green, almost like a glow stick. Other mummy eyes are shades of green, just not as vibrant. All have orange eyes. Under higher light it will get an orange overlay like BGM constant yellow overlay.

Not wanting to hijack but hope some of this info may help in my growth. It's been about the same diameter for last 6 months but has gotten amazing color back since set in Sandbed and went brown. Anyone know what type of mummy eye this is?

Figured that may case. Since you had a top shot. Digital cameras often "change colors" or enhance them. Same said for digital lighting which double fold on color alteration.

Hard to say which version of mummy eye it is. There are dozens of named and twice un-named varieties. It has nice orange and green contrast. So i think you have it in a good lighting spot. How often do you feed it?

I feed corals every 3-4 days. Has more of an acan style tentacle than my avatar, stunner, or superman which all have decently long feeders.
