I have a aqueon 40 breeder that I’m currently running a fluval 70 HOB filter, Aquamaxx HOB skimmer and 2 kessil 360s. All hanging on the back wall of the tank. My filter has a crack in it and I bought a aqua clear 110 to replace it. The filter is double the size of my current 70 and was wondering how much weight I can hang on the back of this tank without worry about blowing the walls out.

Also, is the 110 overkill for 40b with live rock and sand?

I recently broke down an aqueon 40 and even with the edge of the front panel chipped and cracking in the corner, I had to bash it with a hammer quite hard to break it up. It took a lot more force than I expected.

I don't expect there is a chance you could break it with your current load out, but peace of mind is valuable, hang the lights from the ceiling maybe?

I use a similar size filter on my 40 quarantine tank, and also hang a cpr bakpak on it when I need it. I have never been concerned, but I also don't have heavy lights, I hang mine from the ceiling.

Think I’ll try to brace the filter with a 2x4 for peace of mind
