Yup..definetly getting one. Question What's the purpose of the plastic on the bottom of the tank?
Just extra protection. After all my research it seemed that IF one had broken a glass tank it would most likely be the bottom because they dig a burrow and would strike the bottom to go deeper. With the burrow I made I figured it was unlikely but why not.

In hindsight it was probably unnecessary as I haven't seem him dig much at all. Uses the pipe cave structure.... also I've never seen him strike the side glass and feel he'd have to be antagonize pretty bad to try it.
Hope my dog doesnt take fond of mine when I get one then haha

Lovely tank, I miss my mantis. I had a N. wennerae. I noticed you said you’ve been struggling with nitrates, could it be because your mantis is a hoarder? Mine would take the shrimp I fed it, eat half, and then leave half in its burrow. I don’t know if that’s specific to N. wennerae or my individual mantis but maybe yours is doing that and the decaying food is what’s causing all of those nitrates?

Possible. Hard to tell for sure.

Ditched the shelf and hung the reactor on the side. Wall side of the tank now houses Tidal 110 with mechanical filtration and seachem matrix, heater, ato, biopellet reactor run by a sicce syncra 1.5 and icecap gyre 1k wavemaker... Reef octopus classic 90 hob skimmer on back wall in same corner. Somehow managed to fit all equipment snuggly in the back corner.

Where did you place your sicce syncra pump if you're using a Tidal 110? Or where are you pumping water from to feed your reactor?

Was wondering what ever happened with this tank as I’m modeling my first build after this one for a peacock mantis of my own. What would you do differently from the start?

I got one in a 10g. Lately he's been constantly striking the glass lol. Thankfully not quite strong enough to crack it. Will be upgrading to a 20g long eventually.
