I’m setting up a shallow reef and can’t decide on the best option for lighting. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the below options -

Meridian 45
2 XR30s
3 Kessil a360x
4 XR15s (Already have 1)
3 Hydra 64s (Already have 1 on my 25g)

System will be sps dominant.

Cost isn’t the deciding factor but, wouldn’t mind spending less

Thanks and happy Easter!

Well you're probably going to need at least two more xr15s, my lfs has them on all their displays, great lights... I have hydras on my classroom reef tank also nice lights. But the reefbreeder meridians I have on my home reef are just amazing. The app is super easy, there are community settings that are shared, I get zero lights spill, and the warm white LEDs are fantastic. I haven't seen them in person but reef breeders now has a new shallow water addition of all the meridians that has two more of those warm White LEDs in there arrays.

I'm done with mobius to control lights because after waiting years for them to correct the apps inability to keep track if the correct date and time l shelved my Gen 4 xr 15s so no radions for me. I had two tanks loose sync again last week. I only use it to control my vortechs and would move away from those if I didn't have 8 of them running.
I have a meridian 11 over an IM20 and am happy with it but I haven't run it long enough to tell how SPS growth is going to be but my derasas on the sand are growing well. I love my photons that I've been running over my SPS tank heavy on acros. The meridian is supposed to be better than the photons so.......

I have an SPS dominant tank (48x24x24) with 3 Hydra 32. But, I have been considering adding supplemental lighting to the front and back

You think I’d need 6 total for coverage, or are you saying 3 minimum? The Meridian really has me intrigued and the reviews I’ve seen, everyone loves them.

I haven’t had any issues with Mobius myself, but there’s many like you that have. Another one with Meridians too!

What’s your par like with 3 32s?

Around 350 at the top where my acros sit. But, I’d like it higher. That’s why I’m considering adding a light bar up front and behind

No I'm saying a total of three of the xr15s.

I’m going to try and see a Meridian in person, really leaning that way.

I like the Hydra 64 on my 25g, but not over the XR30 I previously ran. I like the option of 4 XR15s for shadowing, but don’t like 4 power supplies.

Guess I have some more researching to do!

Appreciate everyone’s input!

Happy Easter yall!

I have 1 Gen4 pro, and 1 Hydra 64 atm.
You can sell both those lights right here on this app no problem at all and then upgrade to that 45 Meridian. Check out the thread here for the new meridians, everyone loves them. Battle Corals runs them on his coral grow out tank.

I know it's not on your list, but have you looked at ATI straton flex 102?? Excellent par, efficient and looks great.
