This is my first tank. My good buddy and neighbor donated it to me to help me get into the hobby. He has taken me under his wing and has offered to mentor me through my first couple months. Unfortunately I didn’t get too many pictures of the tank being set up but I will be posting pictures of my progression from here on out. The tank got filled on 12/07/2021. I bought my first fish 12/14/2021 and it is currently in my buddy’s quarantine tank.

So the quarantine tank crashed over the day today… luckily we were able to get everything figured out before charley was too affected. We got her from a very close friend. We checked my tank and everything was in range, so we made a last minute call to transfer her. We will be keeping a very close eye on her and the tank over the next few weeks. We also have someone else that has close to 10 years in the hobby coming over Monday to take a look at everything. I know this was a risky discussion but I think with what we had on hand this was our best option. If anyone has anything to add, I am open. Feel free to express concerns, opinions and suggestions.

Well it’s been a little while, but everything is still going good. Today is Tuesday February 22, 2022. I’ve had an algae bloom of a few different algae, but we’ve gotten it under control. Since my last post I’ve added a few things to the tank. (1) emerald crab (1) scarlet reef hermit crab (1) chocolate chip star fish (3) turbo snails.

Unfortunately my puffer (Charlie) made a chew toy out of one of the snails, but that was expected. She has left the others alone for the most part. She nibbled slightly on the starfish (Castiel) but didn’t seem to want anything to do with it afterwards. I just bought the crabs last night and as of this morning I found the hermit but no sign of the emerald (hopefully just hiding). Well that’s it for now will post an update when I get home.

Oh I almost forgot I built a new sump tank. Went from a small tank that maybe held 4 gallons with the sponges and rocks and pump to a sump tank that hold about 17 gallons fully loaded with a cutout for a 7in filter sock. I finally got rid of all my micro bubbles!!! I treated for algae and did a 25% water change the same day and now everything is looking amazing!
