Hey reefers,
I currrently acquired a few 55g plastic barrels that I am wanting to use as water starge units. The barrels were used for holding soap at a car wash. My question is how long should I flush them out before they are safe to start storing water for my aquariums in? I have rinsed both out for about 16 hours each, with the hose on 75-80%. Is this good enough? Is there anything else I should do? Looking for advice please help.

I don't have an answer to this, but if it was me I would use more then just water, try using a vinegar bath and wipe it all down...

I would use bleach instead of vinegar as it will be cheaper but either will work. I would use a 10% solution with bleach and water and just let them sit for 24 hours and if you can put a pump in that would be OK as well. Then rinse well with water and let dry!

To get rid of the bleach smell, mix a little vinegar and water and rinse. Will leave you with no smell at all!
